Fashion scraper application
The business goal
Our client is Shoppr, a small startup from London. They created a mobile application that aggregates different fashion items from such sources as Zara, Mango, H&M, Massimo Dutti and other famous brands. They needed this info to be constantly updated and retrieved via API in an application.
The business goal of the project was to increase the amount of top fashion e-shops like Zara, Mango, H&M, and Massimo Dutti that connected to the Shoppr app to increase the amount of apparels in the app. It allows our client to gain much more traffic for the app and successfully attracts new users with a wide selection of fashion goods.
Therefore, we developed REST API used by mobile applications on iOS and Android that provide the following functionalities:
- collecting information about new apparels from top fashion websites like Zara, Mango, H&M etc.;
- storing data into MongoDB;
- providing access to the products and performing the user registration/authorization via REST API.
Technical side
On a technical side we used Python and Django as a web framework. MongoDB was used to save unstructured information. Among technical issues, we implemented parsing the instances with loaded JavaScript and/or JavaScript/AJAX. We also parsed data from the HTML with unspecified rules (e.g. image containing necessary text info, but not mentioned in page/code).
Result
As a result, our client got a significant (more than 50%) increase in apparels assortment of the app and growth of the users database.
